Wins Buddhi Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2013

Shah Sagar, the top
seed from India won the 4th Buddhi Open International Rating Chess Championship
convincingly with 8 ½ points, just giving a draw at the last round
to TSS Pieris from Sri Lanka. He played with confidence from the 1st round
till the end being more than 200 ELO points ahead even to the No 2, GC
Anuruddha from Sri Lanka. Sagar collected 50,000/- Sri Lankan Rupees,
gold medal and the beautiful Championship Trophy. |
4th Buddhi Open tournament which was organized
by the Buddhi School of Chess and Buddhi Chess Club on be half of the Chess
Federation of Sri Lanka and FIDE was held for the 4th consecutive year from
1th to 24th September 2013 at Apsara Hotel, Nittambuwa, Sri Lanka. 327 players
from 4 ontries, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Germany participated in this
round Swiss System event with around 300,000 prize fund. |
Nishnt Malhothra also from India took the
Silver medal with 8 points while GC Anuruddha, the top seed Sri Lankan player
managed to win the Bronze medal after tying with FM, TSS Pieris, KPRN Samaranayake
and MANy Dhanushka of Sri Lanka with 7 ½ points. Yogesh Gautham,
Arjun Sathees, both from India tied with NP Liyanage, Thisura Munasinghe,
HLM Hapuarachchi and C Lamahewa for the 7th place with 7 points. |
WIM, Nelunika Methmani became women’s
Champion after tying with WIM, National Women’s champion, Sachini
Ranasinghe with 6 ½ points. KWDMID Koswatte and SCT Kumari tied for
the women’s 3rd place with 6 points each. |
